The FOUNDATION aims to promote a comprehensive and
integrated set of services and programs reflecting needs on all levels linking
these needs with an integrated delivery system to translate into all levels;
professional, business, physical, psychological, social and educational.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION exists to support the quality of Life
in all its manifestations. We encourage, sponsor and support projects that show
ability to serve Life. While activities may focus locally or on a global scale,
the FOUNDATION'S clear and conscious aim is to serve the common good.
In achieving this purpose, PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION strives to
embody these values:
¨Reverence for all life and
celebration of its continuously unfolding miracle.
¨Commitment to sustainable ecology and accessibility of basic
resources.
¨Recognition of the inherent unity
and interdependence of all beings.
¨Commitment to sustainable
justice.
¨Appreciation of our human and
natural diversity.
¨Respect for the free will of all
sentient beings.
¨Opportunity for full development and positive expression of all human
potential.
¨Respectful, effective communication
and a cooperative spirit in all interaction.
¨Openness to new ideas and fresh
approaches, while building on the past.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION Design Values
¨Use renewable resources...Reduce
energy and resource gluttony
¨Food self-sufficiency along with
production of bamboo, hemp and other valuable fiber products
¨Energy and currency self-sufficiency
with maximum recycling of resources
¨Little or no pollution in manufacture
¨Use reversible, recyclable
materials and processes
¨Increased access to nature
¨Leave natural systems intact
¨Emphasis on quality, durability and
specificity of function
¨Empower indigenous culture and
individuals
¨Commitment to sustainable
justice
¨Appreciation of human and natural
diversity
¨What we reveal heals!
¨Anticipating and preventing problems
are better than trying to react and fix them after they occur.
¨Accounting must reflect all
long-term environmental and economic costs, not just those of the current
market.
¨The best decisions are those based on sound, accurate, and
up-to-date information.
¨Live off the interest our
environment provides and not destroy its capital base.
¨The quality of social and economic development must take
precedence over quantity.
¨Respect nature and the rights of
future generations.
Such values, exemplified in productive action, expand our
possibilities and offer our best hope for a transformed civilization. Phisolama is envisioned as a seed for
the inspiration of multiple "topias" or places where the local and universal can
co-create and the community can function interdependently with the whole.
With knowledge that only good means create good ends,
PHISOLAMA'S mission is to promote peace, prosperity, and well-being for Humanity
and All Life affected by it, using whatever peaceful, voluntary, and
compassionate means present themselves for that purpose.
PHISOLAMA will use received resources to promote and/or fund
unfolding projects, research and development activities and business ventures of
integrity and viability. Our focus is on supporting activities that are viable,
sustainable and capable of benefiting humanity in the long view.
In the
systems design of PHISOLAMA we are changing the paradigm by modeling a new set
of relations that take the viewer outside the system they experience daily and
forces them to see the island whole. This is a way to change the core
assumptions and expectations of what is possible.
How do
we change paradigms? Thomas Kuhn said that you keep pointing out the anomalies
and failures in the old paradigm and you come out loudly and with assurance for
the new one; you insert it in places of public visibility and power. You don't
waste time with reactionaries,
rather you work with change agents and with the middle ground of people who are
open-minded. As far as possible, the FOUNDATION'S activities will be organized
as co-operative ventures. PHISOLAMA will operate based on a bottom-line of
increased quality of life for the most possible people for the longest possible
time. Long-term benefits for humanity will always take precedence over
short-term profits.
Phisolama commits
to responsibly...
¨Gather and disseminate relevant
information for the situation being addressed
¨Set-up effective management systems
reflecting sustainable Values
¨Engage excellent personnel,
volunteers and project directors
¨Acquire and use sustainable
technologies and strategies
¨Seek, secure and manage
contributions
¨Match selected projects with
suitable resources
¨Manifest ethical standards
¨Establish viable coalitions and
networks for collective good
¨Operate as a learning organization,
continuously improving its quality of expression
¨Value and build on the contribution
of others
¨Encourage and enable new ideas and
creative innovations
¨Model respectful, cooperative
effective communication
¨Fully develop and positively utilize all human potential
To be
considered for support by PHISOLAMA, projects must fit with the general aims of
the PHISOLAMA in being beneficial to humanity, respectful to life, and
ecologically sustainable. Furthermore projects need to be planned to be viable
and sustainable in and of
themselves, whether they are existing or start-up activities. That is, it
is not the aim of PHISOLAMA to have to continuously fund projects, but rather to
act as a catalyst in making them work in and of themselves.
The whole life cycle of projects must be planned, including
the processes that carry them through and the resources that are involved. The
aim is to evaluate projects with maximum integrity and effectiveness, and
minimal bureaucracy. PHISOLAMA is quite willing to support pioneering,
innovative projects with uncertain probabilities of success, as long as the
potential benefits warrant it and the projects are of sound integrity.
Projects that are of an open and co-operative nature are
preferred over projects that are closely controlled or proprietary. Projects are
generally not just supported as a one-way flow, but become part of an
inter-connected network of projects and activities that provide support to each
other.
The center of
THE PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION will be a trust formed within a jurisdiction that
maximizes the preservation and growth of the available resources, and that
minimizes the risk of interference from any local or national government.
Additionally there are trusts established in each national region through which
the FOUNDATION would operate. These trusts would be the entities holding and
disbursing funds. Furthermore a network of non-profit or for-profit corporations
will be formed for the different activities planned and described in this
Overview.
The longer-term strategy is to
arrange the FOUNDATION to consist of legally independent units forming a
network, in order to avoid the fallacies of centrally controlled hierarchies
that risk falling apart if the top goes into disarray. The FOUNDATION network
will consist of units that will be able to function independently, both legally
and practically.
A significant percentage will be invested in activities that
will be viable in themselves or that will return a profit, enabling the
FOUNDATION to continue and expand its work indefinitely. The FOUNDATION will
also, when appropriate, invite joint ventures with non-profits, corporations and
governments that demonstrably share our aims, either within a specific area or
wholly, thereby leveraging the resources at our disposal.
As far as possible, the FOUNDATION'S activities will be
organized as co-operative ventures. PHISOLAMA will operate based on a
bottom-line of increased quality of life for the most possible people for the
longest possible time. Long-term benefits for humanity will always take
precedence over any short-term monetary profits. It is, however, fully expected
that the activities of the FOUNDATION in the long term will prove tremendously
profitable in all regards.
The FOUNDATION'S initial endowment is primarily treated as a
principal that will be maintained, and only interest and proceeds of these funds
is used on a yearly basis. However, care is also taken that the principal is not
unduly endangered by the prospects of collapse of traditional financial systems.
In other words, the principal might be diversified into holdings that will be
preserved regardless of the state of financial markets, such as into holdings of
land or other tangible resources, as opposed to only capital holdings in the
form of stocks and bonds.
PHISOLAMA has a Board of Directors who will set the overall
direction of the FOUNDATION'S activities and organize the implementation of its
aims. This is a working board, consisting of individuals of high integrity and
with a comprehensive whole systems overview of many fields. PHISOLAMA also has
an Advisory Council of qualified experts in different fields who will advise the
Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and support teams
establish the infra-structure for the FOUNDATION that draws on the
intelligence, creativity, and specific knowledge of a widely distributed network
of participants. That is, it is the aim that decisions on local activities are,
as much as possible, taken locally by those who are closest to the actual
situation. When the Board of Directors needs to make decisions they will,
whenever possible, do this in concert and consensus with representatives of
local operations.
The body of the organization is formed out of an
inter-connected network of teams. acting as units or a cells. Each team has its own
area of focus, defined by geography, subject or activity. A team can and does
operate independently, and interfaces with other teams and with the overall
network. Groups of 3-12 teams form bigger units. This can be repeated to any
number of levels.
Teams interface with other teams as necessary, by providing
information, cooperation or resources. Each team is responsible for summarizing
its work regularly for the sake of other teams and for the benefit of
higher-order team groupings. Teams send representatives to meetings of team
groupings, which meet less regularly than the teams themselves.
The participants of PHISOLAMA can
be found in different categories
¨Full-time salaried staff
members.
¨Individuals in an advisory capacity,
meeting occasionally.
¨Community members or employees of
sub-organizations or communities of the overall network.
¨Independent hired contractors
¨Collaborators and allies of various
kinds

HEALTH AND HEALING
Health is a topic that crosses all boundaries; and
increasingly, influences that may impact on our human health may originate in
any area of the globe.
In the late Twentieth Century, orthodox medicine in the
industrialized world is confronting a rise of public interest in 'holistic'
medicine, often involving modalities that have long been traditionally utilized
by human beings in less industrialized nations. This provides particular
opportunity to select from among many cultures those health practices that
work.
Holistic approaches generally may not be well suited to
emergency needs; allopathic approaches generally may not be well suited to
prevention of disease. Both are therefore needed, in fitting proportion, and
applied where appropriate.
Direction: Where We Intend To Go
PHISOLAMA'S direction is to work to empower those human
beings who find themselves either by necessity or by choice on a course of
shouldering responsibility for their individual health and the enhancement and
support of the health of those around them; to provide tools, learning
materials, and direct aid and assistance for this endeavor.
PHISOLAMA programs shall include provision for matters
pertaining to mental health as well as physical health; shall include provision
for those with apparently permanent disability or impairment, as well as for
those presumed more readily capable of full return to wholeness and 'normal'
living; and shall include provision for those working to overcome substance or
behavioral addictions. Compassion shall be the guiding spirit, "First do no
harm," the guiding principle.
Health and
Healing
In conjunction with PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION Community, Charity,
and Education teams, PHISOLAMA will implement Centers, ranging in size from
'village clinics' to 'teaching hospitals', for human beings to avail themselves
of the atmosphere and practices conducive to healing. These Centers will include
the services of natural medicine practitioners currently outside the mainstream
and therefore sometimes difficult to find, as well as the best of technologies
and modalities mainstream medicine has to offer, with the express desire and
intent of alleviating human suffering and needless loss of human life.
The aforementioned centers fulfill three additional related
functions:
Staff members will be approachable and accessible for
sharing of information about the workings of the human body itself, knowing that
health maintenance and prevention of disease depend significantly on the
understanding of those workings on the part of the individual.
Likewise, staff members will offer education in both natural
medicine and conventional modalities wherever appropriate and within bounds of
law.
And, staff members will actively seek out local
practitioners who are the repositories of 'expert wisdom' in their fields of
practice, first to honor and to learn from them, second to insure their wisdom
is (ideally) handed down to the next generation or is otherwise preserved as the
treasure we acknowledge it to be.
PHISOLAMA will establish grants for individuals in need of
therapies not reimbursed by insurance or for unusual requirements of disease
management situations.
Health
Education
PHISOLAMA will work to "rend the veil of obscurity"
surrounding health matters. We recognize that stress itself is a non-trivial
contributor to illness and to the progression of illness, and that making the
mysteries of health comprehensible to the human being whose health it is can
reduce stress, and thereby optimize opportunity of full recovery and restoration
to wholeness.
In conjunction with PHISOLAMA Education efforts, we will
work to introduce small, meaningful additions or changes of perspective in
school course offerings, intended to provide both information and tools that
work to supply a means for human beings to be responsible for their own health.
Similar efforts would be applied to benefit the adult population, in conjunction
with PHISOLAMA Arts & Media teams.
Health
Research
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION will work to identify, validate, and
make known previously discovered approaches and previously devised techniques
that show potential to save human lives and alleviate human suffering, right
now. PHISOLAMA will work to resolve "on hold" questions of research, knowing we
are likely in this way to identify helpful approaches to human health that have,
for whatever reasons, previously "fallen through the cracks".
PHISOLAMA will seek to identify, illuminate, and make known
existing impediments to health that are "hidden in plain sight". PHISOLAMA will
work with and support individuals and organizations already involved in
"sounding the alarm" on heretofore unrecognized health factors.
PHISOLAMA, knowing the natural state of Earth and the
natural functioning of human bodies are inextricably interwoven, will monitor
for indicators of health-affecting shifts in environment and ecology, study to
understand them, and work to reverse them as warranted. Much of this effort
would be in concert with PHISOLAMA Science & Technology and PHISOLAMA
Agriculture teams, PHISOLAMA Ecology teams, and PHISOLAMA Legal Affairs
teams.
Health
Freedoms
Identifying and publishing the facts concerning any pending
threat to the Health Freedom of human beings. PHISOLAMA will participate with
and support others already involved in raising public and legislative awareness
on these matters.
Working to reverse or amend existing legislative or other
hindrances to Health Freedom of human beings. PHISOLAMA will work for the
release of non-useful constraints while working for continued ensuring of safety
and authenticity of items intended for human use.
The Heart of the
Healer
We recognize and acknowledge as Civilization Treasures the
many 'health heroes' who have come before us. PHISOLAMA will seek to honor these
ones as we become aware of them, often including monetarily, and in some cases
through direct support for their ongoing projects and research.
AGRICULTURAL
PHISOLAMA recognizes agriculture as a community activity of
humankind since the earliest days of civilization. Community agriculture is
perhaps the beating heart of a functional civilization. PHISOLAMA'S agricultural
efforts are designed to promote the reclamation of the heart connection of
individuals with their community, as well as the communities with the Land upon
which they reside --at the same time fostering the interdependence of the
individuals within their local communities. PHISOLAMA is committed to empowering
local communities to ensure that none need go hungry, and that all agricultural
practices are ecologically sound.
PHISOLAMA endeavors to promote sustainable locally owned and
controlled agriculture, placing a high value on bioregional principles and
species diversity.
PHISOLAMA'S intention is to support, (through coordinated
cooperation with our all of it's special focus strategies, e.g. Ecology, Science
and Technology, Education, Community & Culture, Legal Affairs, Science &
Technology, the following actions:
¨Promote family and community
agriculture as primary source of foodstuff.
¨Encourage species diversity
¨Practice bio-regionalism
¨Advocate cruelty free agricultural
practices
¨Utilize organic agriculture
¨Develop and initiate non-toxic
agriculture alternatives
¨Resist regressive legal initiatives,
such as the reclassification of herbs as drugs and
¨Provide education to incorporate all
of the above into community awareness.
¨Seek to assist poor farmers
throughout the world to gain or regain high yield local genetically adapted crop
varieties lost during previous failed international agricultural
'revolutions'.
ARTS AND MEDIA
If there is a natural force inside each of us that can save
the world by giving us unity, it is creativity. Each individual has the inherent
potential to become a creative human being, and in fact such productive
creativity aligned with an appreciation of the creative work can be a key to
human happiness. "Happiness is the indication that man has found the answer to
the problem of human existence: the productive realization of his potentialities
and thus, simultaneously, being one with the world and preserving the integrity
of his self."
Conversely, a person who lives without connection to the
creative flow inevitably becomes depressed and apathetic towards life. The
uncreative individual lives as a consumer of the status quo, never reaching
beyond the perimeters of the military/industrial/educational complex, never
allowing the mind to open up to new alternatives beyond such things as the
capitalist or communist systems, in order to see how to live in real harmony:
individually, collectively, or globally. Therefore PHISOLAMA considers it
essential for all people to actualize their creative selves.
With this in mind, PHISOLAMA wishes to foster all the of
creative arts for all the people by;
¨Establishing or supporting
environments that enable artistic expression and creativity
¨Supporting self-expression development programs for children
¨Supporting outreach projects to
communities whom, because of economic, political, or cultural oppression, or
a disempowering education have had
their innate creative abilities disabled.
¨Encouraging global cultural exchange
and experimental integration of cultures to create new creative arts whilst
respecting and encouraging their wonderful diversity
¨Protecting endangered cultures,
languages and arts.
The intention of PHISOLAMA is to reintegrate
creativity into the fabric of community so that it is no longer seen as the
pursuit of the privileged few or as merely entertainment for some, but as a
vital and integrating function of the self and the whole, and an expression of
the joy and suffering of being.
The same intention applies equally to PHISOLAMA'S strategy
for Media projects. Media, as it has generally been practiced, is centered on
the individual as consumer - of products, of ideas, of feelings, of knowledge.
It is thus coercive in its application, leaving little space for interaction
between recipient and provider. It is created by a remote few, thus restricting
creative access from the many who, instead, become passive consumers.
PHISOLAMA is therefore committed to expanding traditional
media conduits to include the creative efforts of the many so that media becomes
the medium (the middle) or hub for a creative dialogue of ideas, feelings,
knowledge and resources that are accessible to all. Through technological
innovations and the enabling of creativity facilitated by the PHISOLAMA projects
described herein, PHISOLAMA will create a media that is a planetary conduit for
sharing.
PHISOLAMA is committed to creating an alternative
multimedia communications network, and separately an 'immersive environment'
education and entertainment network.
CHILDREN
PHISOLAMA acknowledges the significance of childhood -
humanity's early phase of vulnerable innocence, when the personal foundation is
created which will support an entire lifetime. PHISOLAMA recognizes the crucial
process that children experience as they are integrated with the larger society
and recognizes that, without a voice, without a vote, children are utterly
dependent upon adult capability and good will. On the behalf of children
everywhere in the world, the PHISOLAMA will strive to promote their unique full
rights, to advance their quality of life, and to uphold their universal
sacredness. The future of civilization is made manifest in them, "the new
lifeblood of the body, which is community."
As a premise to our activities, we acknowledge the natural
bond between the parents and their child, prevailing as parental right,
necessary duty, and one of the greatest joys of life. In the case of the
progenitor(s) being unavailable (for reasons such as: incarceration, separation,
or death), there is an equivalent responsibility for the primary caregiver or
guardian, and the local community. We will promote programs that enable our
collaboration with parents or guardians of every amenable persuasion and
culture, in order to assist and empower their means of supporting the children.
We are interested in obtaining a holistic comprehension of the various
child-raising traditions for our further research into the human condition.
Moreover, we seek to explore new approaches of harmonizing family values with
society values, via specific intentional community projects. Our goal is to
actualize an improved design for society, which encourages an increase of
interaction between generations and is more conscientious of children's needs.
The rights & welfare of children are of concern,
particularly those of the youngest age (from birth until adolescence), when they
are less able to express their own rights. We acknowledge that these rights are
indeed the same rights which adults have accorded for humanity, with the proviso
that they are "in dormancy" until activated. The "activation" occurs through
normal growth and maturation, although individual timing and sequence varies
widely, depending upon culture and other factors. From the beginning, the most
important right is for "life itself" (basic survival), relevant to the whole
issue of welfare. We will coordinate with existing organizations to develop
innovative programs that protect and ensure the adequate care of children,
especially those in impoverished regions. Victory over the widespread problem of
hunger and starvation will be a major focus. The adequate care consists of
1)the PHYSICAL needs (clean air &
water supply; nourishing foods - locally grown, fresh, and organic, cf. ECOLOGY;
clothing; shelter; proper hygiene; preventative health practice; proper sewage
treatment; and other required systems) and of
2) the EMOTIONAL needs (essentially revolving around the
exchange of affection, attention, and LOVE). We
envision a safe and nurturing environment to provide subsequent generations with
the optimal start to life in the new civilization.
We shall strive to incorporate into children's development
the means to impart to them a sense of the importance of maintaining a healthy
lifestyle through their earliest years into adulthood.
The transference of knowledge has special characteristics
whenever children are involved. To a child, learning is synonymous with playing.
Modern, institutionalized, competitive schooling has in so many ways denied and
forsaken the spontaneous enthusiasm of the teaching/learning celebration. For
this reason, we aim to synthesize a child-centered form of education, to be
derived from the many progressive methodologies of diverse cultures and
traditions. Our educational renewal will strive to maintain a balance between
hi-tech and low-tech systems; one project may be a "junior" PHISOLAMA. Internet
forum, while another may be a down-to-earth, flower garden. We are committed to
sponsoring a global network of activities that stimulate the creativity of
children and encourage their positive development as living, thinking
individuals. We will search far and wide to assemble a team of educators who are
able to distinguish and cultivate the innate talents of genius. Within each
child, there is a unique gift that can be discovered through the facilitation of
loving guidance.
We are optimistic that the Earth is capable of supporting
vast numbers of human inhabitants, within the limits imposed by a healthy global
environment. However, we have deduced that the present reality is far from ideal
and a strategy of sustainable development is needed. By observation of
metropolitan conditions and widespread environmental damage, we infer that
population distribution and demographics are interconnected factors of much
consequence. Our far-reaching vision for the redesign of society includes plans
for eco-village development and cooperative living arrangements. The
construction of our prototypes will provide actual stepping-stones on the way to
a new civilization, free of detrimental crowding and adverse effect upon Nature.
With regards to the birth rate, we recognize that the phenomenon of reproduction
is more in the hands (and wombs) of child-bearers, so it exists as a pertinent
women's issue. Conversely, we will investigate the extent to which men should be
held accountable through biological obligation. We will coordinate with other
organizations to educate young adults about the ethical implications and basic
responsibilities of bringing a child into the world. The education will comprise
the diversity of options, such as: contraception, abstinence, natural rhythm
method, non-intercourse sex, focus on self-development, premarital counseling,
adoption, even the wise consideration of "waiting". We are committed to
alleviating the tragic situation of the millions who are blundering into
parenthood without a feasible plan. Our ultimate stance in these matters is to
respect individual choices of free will.
From the Wisdom of our collective experience, from the
nurturing urge in our Heart of Love, let us serve to create that ideal world, to
give unto the next generations, what we would have given unto ourselves when we
were children.
COMMUNITY AND CULTURE
A central strategy for The PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION is to
establish a network of inter-connected communities that serves several
purposes:
¨Demonstrating models of empowered, co-operative, sustainable living.
¨Providing an infrastructure that will safely persist in spite of
changing economical, political or environmental conditions.
¨Establishing ideal conditions for the development of technologies,
models, and approaches that will serve all of humankind.
¨Providing a home base for
individuals and teams that are dedicated to building and maintaining a world
that works for all of us.
The strategy is essentially to acquire land and/or dwellings
upon which to establish each community; to build sustainable material
infrastructures for necessary energy, water, food, housing, and economic
support; to invite people of skill and integrity to populate the community; to
foster the development of self-organizing, spiritually oriented social
cooperation; and to connect these communities together through a communication,
exchange and coordination infra-structure.
The idea is to create PHISOLAMA "pockets" where groups of
people can unleash their collective creativity outside the constraints of the
economics, politics, monopolies, scarcities and general noise of the surrounding
old civilization.
Each community will be largely self-sustainable in terms of
energy, food and other basic resources. That is, it could survive independent of
the surrounding world, if necessary, although PHISOLAMA community's active
interactions with local and remote communities will assist in maintaining and
improving the existing social systems. The PHISOLAMA communities will seek to
serve where they can in exchanging goods, services or knowledge when
appropriate.
The communities will have local internal economic exchange
systems or unmeasured sharing and distribution, allowing the majority of the
members to work to support the community within the community so the focus is on
being useful within the community itself, and in participating in the common
projects of the community. Each community will have several community owned
businesses to bring in what money is required for external materials and
supplies and if necessary, a community can petition PHISOLAMA or the community
network to grant investment money to establish further community owned
businesses.
Beyond covering the basics of living, each community will
focus on one or more areas of service to the larger network or the world at
large. That is, members of the community, or the whole community, might work on
particular technological research or development projects, educational programs,
media projects, agricultural development, administration of wider scale
projects, or whatever their responsibility is chosen to be.
The communication infrastructure and knowledge-sharing
network amongst these communities is essential. The aim is to allow teams in
individual communities to dedicate themselves thoroughly to their projects, and
at the same time to let necessary information be passed on to anybody else in
any other community who needs or desires the information, for cooperative or
educational purposes. The idea is to both allow a team to specialize and at the
same time avoid that situation where the same wheels need to be re-invented in
different places.
It should be stressed that the aim is in no way to create
isolated communities that hide away from society and mind their own business. On
the contrary, the idea is to create communities that promote their activities
widely and that produce quality products and services and knowledge for the
benefit of society as a whole.
The
average starting cost for creating such a community is estimated at around $5
million for a typical community of 100 adult members. This will of course vary
depending on the geographical region and the size and purpose of the community.
Each member will have a cooperative interest in the activities of the community.
That is, the community will to some extent work as a profit-sharing business.
The fixed property of each community is initially owned by a separate trust.
When the community has demonstrated itself to be viable and self-organizing, the
control of the trust is given over to the members of the community.
A common electronic communication infrastructure is
developed for the network of communities. Key to this is that the components
aren't controlled by outside monopolies. This network will of course also
serve a variety of other PHISOLAMA supported projects, such as media, education
and third world empowerment. Any excess capacity in this network can of course
be marketed to other parties.
ECOLOGY
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION recognizes the profound significance of
the environment in all of its many attributes -- from the neighborhood back lot
or local section of land to the entire planet and all species within its purview
as a complete, connected entity. PHISOLAMA is accordingly dedicated to
ecologically sound and sustainable solutions in all of its many varied and
diverse endeavors. To this end, the PHISOLAMA will actively support and
promulgate the following principles:
Seventh Generation
Acknowledgment --
In the spirit of those who have lived as part of the land, all decisions, which
may effect the natural and created environments, will consider the effects of
such decisions on any future seventh generation. This long-range view will
prevail over short-term solutions, profit oriented perspectives, and matters of
expediency, and other limited vantage points.
Humanity is a fundamental aspect of the ecology. Human
beings and their interaction with other species is intricately linked within any environment. This
does not imply the precedence of one species over another, but instead an
attitude of common cause where all species knowingly or unknowingly recognize
the contribution of all other species to the common good.
"In wilderness is the preservation of the world." Humanity
for its own purposes -- as well as in having a profound respect for the habitats
of other species -- requires the existence and availability of wilderness in all
of its many forms (from deserts to mountains to rain forests to marshes).
The adage, "the solution to pollution is dilution", is in
and of itself a limited truth. While all human activities may be considered
polluting (or more accurately, affecting the environment), the degree to which
such pollution occurs can be modified by conscious choice of which activities
are pursued, as well as the manner in which they are conducted.
Quality of Life is a fundamental consideration in all
activities of humanity and other species. Furthermore, such quality of life may
depend upon the availability of adequate space (or volume) in order for each
species to pursue their own particular form of destiny.
In recognition of these principles, and to foster the aims
of the FOUNDATION in pursuing ecologically sound activities, PHISOLAMA will
pursue the following: Engage in a continuing, rational dialogue regarding the
effects of human population on the local and global environments, as well as the
voluntary and unforced methods that may be applied to reduce significantly the
deleterious effects on the ecology by any unbalanced population of any
species.
Foster activities that address in a positive way
¨Alternative industrial and military
processes that will enhance the environment instead of degrading
it.
¨Providing alternatives to poverty and thus alleviating the necessity
of poverty based choices that might result in environmental degradation.
¨Elimination of survivability belief
issues (based upon increasingly outdated economic or protection style logic)
such that individuals have alternatives to concentrated centers of humanity
(cities).
¨Solutions and suggested
modifications to often ancient, obsolete cultural dynamics based on a lack of
future or present resources and which are ultimately deleterious to the
environment.
¨Promote solutions to providing
material needs to individuals throughout the world in such a manner as to
alleviate indirectly the causes of ecological and environmental
devastation.
¨Encourage the promulgation of
PHISOLAMA principles and values which can directly or indirectly modify existing
paradigms of scarcity, fear, and survivability, and which, therefore, indirectly
promotes improvements in the environment, both locally and globally.
¨Advocate the humane treatment of all
species of life (including so-called food stocks), the continuation of species
currently endangered, and the increasing recognition of the sentient
possibilities of other species.
¨Promote restoration and regeneration
of Ecological sub-systems and resources that have been
degraded.
¨Actively support organic and other forms of ecologically sound
agricultural applications, and seek every means possible to stem the flow of
environmentally toxic chemical pollutants into the environment from any and all
sources, including agricultural.
¨Promote the Earth as a repository of
nurturing, unconditional abundance for all species, but with the proviso that,
"Its not nice to fool Mother
Nature."
¨Anticipating and preventing problems
are better than trying to react and fix them after they occur.
¨Accounting must reflect all
long-term environmental and economic costs, not just those of the current
market.
¨The best decisions are those based on sound, accurate, and
up-to-date information.
¨We must live off the interest our environment provides and not
destroy its capital base.
¨The quality of social and economic development must take
precedence over quantity.
¨We must respect nature and the rights of future generations.
ECONOMICS
Economics is the study of the processes whereby human beings
transform and utilize aspects of nature, the results of which we call wealth.
Wealth, however, can have many meanings -- e.g. "The only viable social security
is your friends." On this basis THE PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION incorporates into its
many fields of endeavor, alternative views of what constitutes wealth and
thereby questions many -- if not all -- economic assumptions. Simultaneously,
PHISOLAMA supports and encourages alternative views of economics and their
associated paradigms.
PHISOLAMA includes within its purview the development of
alternative economic systems such as local exchange and bartering systems, local
currencies, and micro loans. Any alternative currencies which might be developed
by a PHISOLAMA project will be required to consider external, existing
governments' taxation as a real (and perhaps unavoidable) reality. It is not the
goal of PHISOLAMA to challenge existing economical activities but to promote
understanding of economic realities by examining the validity of current
assumptions on which economic thinking is based. It aims to offer alternatives
and in most cases, side-by-side systems which are not inherently conflicting to
demonstrate the viability of these alternatives.
PHISOLAMA designs of alternative economic systems will be
based on real criteria rather than arbitrary opinions or judgments by specially
appointed individuals or groups. For the foreseeable future, all PHISOLAMA
sponsored projects and communities will recognize the existing paradigm of
"colored currencies" (paper money without such backing as gold and silver), and
the need to combine local currencies and external currencies. At the same time,
PHISOLAMA will not support alternative economic systems or new currencies that
are interest bearing or promote distant management.
PHISOLAMA will, if chosen by consensus of a community,
support economies based purely on sharing and distribution, using no symbolism
or measuring of labor or use beyond fair distribution of commonly needed
commodities, with external money used only as an interface between the community
as a whole and the outside society.
Nature is a Life Source rather than a Human Resource. In the
same way a person cannot live through the violent removal of his heart, Nature
is externally our common body and we cannot live through it's violent destruction and shortsighted use.
Because of Nature's intrinsic value beyond the measurement of any conceptual
system, including economics, PHISOLAMA will seek to buy untouched land in
parcels as large as possible all over the world, and place such lands in
perpetual trust (unexploited, uninhabited and pristine).
Communities would have among other purposes: The goal of
watching over the use of the ecology by Humanity, to preserve it's health by publicizing misuse to the global
population, and detect and publicize unfair restriction of resources being
applied to any segment of the global population for any reason.
Mindful businesses are matched by the mindful consumption choices fostered by the rapidly
growing voluntary simplicity movement. Positive initiatives are creating
the outlines for self-organizing, life-sustaining economies that are:
·democratic and rooted in place
·comprised of human-scale firms,
owned by and accountable to people with a stake in their function and
impacts
·frugal with energy and resources, allocating them efficiently to
meet needs, recycling the "wastes"
·culturally, socially, and economically diverse, supportive of
innovation and the free sharing of knowledge
·mindful of responsibility to self and community
·bounded by permeable borders, that allow democratic
self-regulation
In such an economy, enterprises
would be owned by community members who work in them, depend on their products,
and supply their inputs - with each entitled to a fair return to their labor and
their investment.
Community economies would be self-organized by community
members according to their self-determined priorities and mutually agreed rules.
They would have their own speculation-proof currencies to facilitate local
exchange.
The Earth and its resources would be managed as the common
property of posterity, a sacred trust whose principal is to be maintained as its
product is equitably shared.
The design of production-consumption processes would give
high priority to working in balance with the natural productive processes of the
ecosystem, using local renewable material and energy resources, and generating
zero waste. Each community economy would have its distinctive features and
culture reflecting its history, the circumstances of its place, and the
preferences of its members All
would engage in mutually beneficial trade with their neighbors on their own
terms, while freely sharing useful information and technology.
If enough of us decide we value life more than money, we
have the means and the right to create an economy that nurtures life and
restores money to its proper role as life's servant. Moreover, the actions
involved are familiar and give expression to principles that underlie millions
of years of evolution, along with more recent human values of democracy,
community, and freedom.
EDUCATION
Education is a primary function of the PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION.
It is understood from the inherent values of PHISOLAMA that a society cannot be
wholly free unless it has access to complete knowledge and understanding -- in
effect, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set ye free." Every aspect
of the FOUNDATION-- from health and economics to agriculture and ecology to
interactive communities -- depends ultimately upon empowered individuals making
wise choices.
Such individuals and aligned groups will, in turn, depend
upon their abilities to acquire knowledge and wisdom, understand implications,
discriminate between competing alternatives, and subsequently incorporate new
found knowledge into their lives. PHISOLAMA'S educational strategy is about
being mindful in all relationships, of being a light unto each other and always
acquiring new meanings and skills.
PHISOLAMA'S goal is supporting new and existing forms of
education that are in alignment with the needs and demands of our society, our
ecology, and of humanity in the present and future. This includes support for
projects, initiatives, and pilot programs in all aspects of education and
training at every level of society and for all age groups.
PHISOLAMA will also focus on the expansion of existing
curricula to encompass vital areas of information that are otherwise being
neglected, to actively encourage the worldwide free flow of information, and
ultimately, to support the dissemination of all forms of knowledge, inquiry, and
wisdom. PHISOLAMA envisions an educational paradigm of worldwide sharing of
knowledge, wisdom, creative thought, and new and old ideas -- including personal
exploration into the self and the place of the individual within the community
and planetary society. Diverse cultural differences and experiences are
specifically sought.
PHISOLAMA will support worldwide literacy programs and
on-line creativity stations in community centers and schools, provide free or
low cost educational opportunities worldwide, leverage the use of appropriate
educational technologies in the delivery of education and training, and provide
high quality free education over the Internet.
PHISOLAMA wishes to foster free and easy availability of
information without censorship or limitation by special interests, emphasizing
programs that teach individuals how to discriminate fact from fiction, truth
from deception. PHISOLAMA'S education and training strategies are to enable
individuals to think independently, understand themselves and the world around
them, allow considered and intelligent choices, prepare for productive lives,
and to otherwise enable each individual in the achievement of their highest
potential. In lieu of old paradigm values of surveillance, evaluation, reward
and competition, PHISOLAMA will emphasize uniqueness, equality, contribution,
and mutual cooperation.
One of PHISOLAMA'S essential functions is in developing and
implementing innovative and aligned educational methodologies. Such methods may
range from basic literacy programs to functional Internet techniques and
availability, from practicality based fundamentals to accelerated learning
techniques, and from the basics of learning how to learn to the ability to
critically analyze and make meaningful judgments about the credibility of
information or sources. That said PHISOLAMA believes that true intelligence
cannot be measured, but is the fruition of a heuristic learning that can be
attained only through relationship. Therefore, methodologies are encouraged
which do not encroach on the simple and innate human ability to learn from
relating to each other and to the world.
Also included are the restructuring of classrooms to
facilitate and encourage learning (eliminating, for example, the strictures of
specific "periods" and alarm bell reminders of when it's time to shift gears
from one subject to another, or any artificial construct which impedes the
investigative partnership between student and teacher), removal of the inherent
conflict of interest in a single individual being both teacher and tester, and
methods of better accessing the creativity and interests of students with
diverse backgrounds and unique cultural histories.
PHISOLAMA also intends to greatly expand the existing
curricula of traditional schooling and post-graduate education. This may include
an improved musical education, mathematics which include sacred geometry and
other traditionally esoteric topics, alternative health and nutrition, energy
and other sciences which may compete with but nevertheless have equal or greater
validity than mainstream thought, required comparative religion courses (which
are intended to teach tolerance and mutual understanding), and expansion of
traditionally regionalized history courses to full-bodied world history (and
herstory) courses. All such
subjects will include -- very specifically -- competing and contrary viewpoints
on controversial or debatable topics, as well as attempt to delve into
traditionally esoteric ("for the few") subjects and treat them as exoteric ("for
the many").
Of particular interest to PHISOLAMA is the potentiality of
education via the Internet. Accordingly, PHISOLAMA'S educational efforts may
include the support and encouragement of the creation of an Internet Accessed
Worldwide Information Database. This database will initially contain information
not easily available, but will rapidly be expanded to include all human
knowledge.
The greatly expanded web site(s) will be user friendly, will be constantly updated, and
available to any and everyone. Proprietary information will be accessed (when
possible) by links to other web sites, and as soon as possible by inclusion in
the main Database. The development of the database is expected to include a
Library, a University (providing for feedback and testing in specific areas),
and Museum ("seat of the Muses"). While the development of the database may be
centralized to a single PHISOLAMA community created for this purpose, an
enormous and possibly the majority of the work is expected to be done "off-site"
by an "adjunct faculty".
EMPOWERMENT AND
QUALITY OF LIFE
("...empowerment is a state of mind not a verb. It is a way
of thinking and behaving rather than something which is done to a person or an
organization...it is a slow process by which both parties develop their way of
thinking and behaving so that the balance and relationship between the powerful
and the powerless shifts, to their mutual benefit. Where it works well, the distinction between the two
disappears completely and everyone contributes his or her full talents
enthusiastically and unreservedly.")
-John Nicholls
Providing basic needs, i.e., food, clothing, and shelter is
one of the most challenging problems in today's society.
Many of the programs and projects sponsored by PHISOLAMA in
other areas will do much to improve quality of life for the people affected by
these projects--those who participate as well as those who benefit, either
directly or indirectly. However, there is much that can be done to either
improve the function of existing private charities or in creating innovative
programs that foster personal independence and self-reliance. PHISOLAMA will
explore ways to ensure basic human needs are met, while encouraging education to
teach recipients to provide for themselves as much as possible.
The PHISOLAMA will further a global
and systematic strategy in the field of humanitarian activities: members of a
special new civilization network, will work together to plan and carry out a
series of collective interventions aimed at reducing the number of suffering
events occurring in the lives of individuals throughout the world. The notion of excessive suffering
refers to any particular psychoneural phenomenon that is experienced as too
aversive to be acceptable as a part of a humane existence. Excessive suffering
events may be associated with any kind of condition or problem: illnesses and
disabilities (physical or psychological), social or economic problems (war,
poverty, hunger, human and animal exploitation, torture, crime and
punishment...), accidents, disasters, etc.
ENERGY
A basic attribute of any civilization is its energy usage,
sources, and technologies. The sustainability of any society -- from the most
basic to the most technologically advanced -- is dependent upon the long term
usage of energy, its availability and the technology which transforms one form
of energy into another to accomplish useful work.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION, with its commitment to encourage and
support sustainable communities, projects, and other initiatives recognizes this
critical factor in having readily available energy resources and appropriately
utilizing sustainable energy uses, methods, and technologies.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION is therefore committed to supporting
and encouraging the research, development, and implementation of energy sources
that are sustainable, inexhaustible, ecologically sound and locally controlled.
Such energy sources include solar, wind, tidal, hydro, "virtual energy", and
other sources of energy. Ample attention will be given to ephemeralization ("doing more with less"), the "Right
Use of Energy" (conservation, efficiency, and selectivity as to energy usage),
and adherence to comprehensive design in the development of each and every
technology.
Utilizing the criteria and underlying philosophy of the
Science & Technology Strategy as a basis, energy research and development
will focus on energy conservation, and those alternative forms of energy
production and resources which meet the following criteria:
¨Sustainable and/or Renewable
¨Ecologically sound
¨Locally controlled
¨Inexhaustibility, a fourth criteria
will be sought but not constitute a disqualifying condition
Traditionally, the energy technologies which qualified under
the above criteria included: solar, wind, tidal, and hydro.
Solar
is currently considered uneconomical and therefore underutilized. PHISOLAMA will
support a Solar R&D center both actively and by making accessible knowledge
and communications services available to further Solar and any other truly
inexhaustible and environmentally near-zero impact source on the immediate
technological horizon.
Wind being a solar driven effect, it is also inexhaustible
and free of negative effects with the possible exception of EMF health concerns.
Research and implementation in wind energy generation will be facilitated in the
same manner as solar.
Tidal and hydro are even more location specific. The
restrictions on tidal are substantially created by the restriction of
development to shorelines, which have environmental impacts, and few, if any,
shore lines would be appropriate from either economic or ecological reasons,
while hydro has major environmental impacts not acceptable except perhaps in
terms of "Low-Head Hydro", which have the benefit of being locally controlled.
Research on both methods of power generation will have the same priority and be
furthered in the same way as solar and wind. The use of tidal energy by floating
and/or submerged ocean communities will be considered also.
Also, in this category is the utilizing "ocean
thermal-gradient" as a potential energy source.
PHISOLAMA recognizes explicitly that the alleged lack of
feasibility of many alternative energy sources has been based on the axiom that
such feasibility is determined strictly by economics. The establishment of a
Viable Eco-field however, does not require adherence to existing paradigms or
old assumptions. In addition, an advantage of solar and other energy
technologies is that they are oriented toward a simpler and less technological
society -- a preference that is strongly appealing for many individuals.
PHISOLAMA is further committed to supporting and encouraging
projects which adhere to the "Right Use of Energy", i.e. energy conservation,
energy efficiency, ephemeralization ("doing more with less" -- a
combination of conservation and efficiency), and selectivity (i.e. the choice
and desirability of the appropriate uses to which different forms of energy are
applied).
PHISOLAMA is also dedicated to promoting a comprehensive
design criteria in the various stages of a technology's development (leading to
ephemeralization), and -- where
appropriate -- bypassing old axioms such as economics which might otherwise
dictate the late or premature timing of introducing new energy devices and
concepts.
From a modern, technologically oriented world viewpoint, new
innovative energy devices offer the best opportunities to effectively provide
sustainable, ecologically sound, and locally controlled sources of energy. Some
of these devices utilize as a fuel a resource that either has traditionally been
considered a waste product or a virtually inexhaustible source of fuel such as
ordinary water. In at least one case, a water-fueled device is in the late
stages of development, and might easily come under the purview of a PHISOLAMA's effort to make it available
to a large segment of the population.
Inexhaustible sources of energy come under the category of
so-called "free energy" or "over-unity energy" devices. These new and
extraordinary devices range from so-called "Cold Fusion" and specific designs
such as the "Patterson Fuel Cell" to what is known as "zero-point energy" and
"space energy" devices. Zero-point and space energy devices also exist and
appear to involve either other dimensions (hyper-dimensions beyond the
traditional four-dimensional space-time reality), or simply the basic inertia of
the universe. Both forms offer energy that is literally inexhaustible. Modern
calculations, for example, have estimated the available zero-point energy to be
ten to the 70th power times the total nuclear energy availability. These modern
innovations have the advantage of being near-term and appear to have already
passed the "proof-of-concept" stage in their development.
Alternative inventions (such as those by Tesla, Schauberger, et al) may also bear
revisiting. PHISOLAMA expects to be involved with the research and development
of such devices in a material and strongly interactive way, but simultaneously,
maintaining the integrity of the Right Use of Energy and Ephemeralization of Usage.
HABITAT
PHISOLAMA will strive to merge the preferences of people --
globally -- with ecologically sound manufacturing and construction processes,
materials, locations, and fundamental design criteria. Furthermore, PHISOLAMA
will endeavor to find methods to provide housing or appropriate shelter for all
people in the world who want it.
PHISOLAMA will seek to educate the consumer, the designer,
the real estate companies, the insurance companies, the builders, the materials
manufacturers, and all other components going into the Habitat industry in sound
ecologically sustainable methods. To this end, the PHISOLAMA will seek to show
by example functional ecologically sustainable housing, and to create beauty and
integration of design such that the desirability of our example will be apparent
to all.
PHISOLAMA will seek to present the advantages of whole
system design, as defined by comprehensive design science, to all
concerned.
PHISOLAMA will research and design modular, recyclable,
energy efficient, self-contained, ergonomic, quickly built and removed,
multi-configuration, size independent, generalized and specialized 'economy of
scale' oriented dwelling machines and manufacturing systems for both temporary
and emergency buildings and permanent housing.
If required, the PHISOLAMA will 'spin off' community
sustaining non-profit factories to mass produce these dwelling machines, and
transport and assemble them for the recipients.
Such dwellings and other buildings will be provided to
PHISOLAMA seeded communities as requested, replace older buildings in urban
areas inside and outside urban spiritual communities as appropriate and
necessary, and provide land and buildings to communities within the context of
educational and empowering strategies tailored to local cultural
requirements.
As much as possible, each dwelling will be designed by the
individuals, families, or groups who will be living in it, constrained only by
necessary technological and ecological constraints.
LEGAL AFFAIRS
The focus of PHISOLAMA is on creating a sustainable way of
life and conditions through supporting projects and endeavors designed to
improve the human and environmental condition. We recognize that such activities
take place within the context of sovereign governments and that the Laws of the
Land need to be observed both in spirit, intent, and action.
In the event that such laws promote forms of human suffering
PHISOLAMA will act to counter those practices through education, sanctuary
services, and by Public Alerts designed to bring those acts to the attention of
the population.
Inherent to PHISOLAMA are a respect for the individual as a
contributing member of the human family and a respect for all life forms. This
includes recognition of the fundamental importance of individual freedom and the
rights and responsibilities of individuals as guaranteed by but not necessarily
granted to individuals by their government.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION supports and encourages experimentation
and understanding of new models for social order, regulation and ethical
conduct. The PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION will be supportive of creating institutions to
research and monitor existing or proposed legislation in many regions and
topics, that inform the public about threats to their freedom, health or
happiness, and that support appropriate changes in existing law and
order.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION supports and encourages alternative
forms of law -- specifically experimentation into new versions of social
structure and conduct. PHISOLAMA communities may, within their own borders,
experiment with such things as Common Law concepts and other techniques which
suggest means by which sustainable justice, equality, and legal integrity can be
more readily and precisely obtained, enhanced, and/or fostered.
Another potential role in Legal Affairs is that of a
monitoring or watchdog service whose primary goal is to ensure the freedom,
health and happiness of every member by providing timely, accurate, and
understandable descriptions of the current state of laws being considered,
already on-the-books, and their anticipated effects on society at large. The
latter category includes the actual or possible effects of any law or set of
laws being legally or illegally enforced (or in some cases, unjustifiably
ignored). PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION'S Legal Affairs Monitoring would also include all
levels of court, agency, and other governmental rulings, their interpretations
and effects, and the content and degree of counter arguments and criticisms.
The extent of such monitoring could extend from the legal
control of health products and services, to educational issues to freedom of the
press, and from environmental law to any potential threat to humanity's and the
island's freedom, health or happiness. PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION may also provide
transcriptions of Old laws, regulations, tax codes, and other governmental data
on the Internet in user-friendly language, along with possible alternatives to
such regulations.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION Legal Affairs may also include
promoting and initiating the modification of existing local, state, and national
laws and codes in order to allow and facilitate the design, testing,
manufacture, and use of alternative technologies in housing, transportation,
energy generation and use, human waste reclamation, health practices and
systems, farming methods and practices, and other innovations which may be
advanced by one or more PHISOLAMA seeded communities.
Also, on a no strings attached basis, PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION
Legal Affairs will patent inventions by others as long as those inventions are
not military or weapon oriented.
PEACE
THE PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION is guided by the certainty that
without peace there is no viable future for humankind. Peace is an absolute term
and means the ending of human violence towards all Life, including ourselves.
Without peace there can be no New Civilization, and thus the FOUNDATION is
committed to the unilateral deployment of compassion and love to the end.
Peace is a state in which the human spirit can soar and
where our hearts and minds are joined in the highest expressions of compassion,
the development of the arts, the promotion of thought and learning, and the
flourishing of the garden-planet. Without peace there can be no Future, and thus
the FOUNDATION is committed to the unilateral deployment of compassion and love
to that end.
There are two general areas the PHISOLAMA intends to
support
Peace projects, events, monuments, publications and the
development of specific peace events and activities. The function of these
activities will be to envision peace; to unite people in religious expressions
for peace; identify and address activities that would tend towards disrupting
peace; and support the human right to live life in peace.
Proactive,
preventative and reconciliatory intervention to diffuse, resolve, and heal the
effects of conflict, to find common cause, and to nurture peace at the grass
roots. These
projects will foster awareness and the processing of both small and large
tensions as well as peace as the absolute goal.
THE PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION recognizes that the absence of war
does not in itself constitute peace. Neither is 'peace keeping' a sustainable
form of peace, but at best the postponement and at worst the repression of
conflict. PHISOLAMA is therefore committed to supporting and facilitating
programs that move towards an ending of conflict at the point where it arises.
Conflict is rooted in the dualistic nature of thought which separates the 'I'
from the 'other'; and through the action of this delusion manifests in conflict
in all its forms and scales.
With this in mind, PHISOLAMA will support programs that:
¨seek to resolve conflict through
non-violent means at all levels - from nations to neighborhoods, from families
to the inner conflict of the individual
¨work at finding common cause on a grassroots level
¨emphasize reconciliation and
resolution over mediation and diplomacy.
One of the preventative measures PHISOLAMA would like to
foster is the creation of 'peace conduits'. This would involve the shifting of
resources around the planet to limit the potential for violent conflict arising
out of a struggle to control basic needs, such as after a natural disaster. Like
a macroscale 'world game',
countries could agree to produce a conduit for exchange of surplus basic
resources and skills. These could be water, food, organic fertilizers, energy
technologies, or even the movement of teachers or common farmers in one country
who know a technique which would help the farmers in another country. The
synergistic effect of such co-operation would be a demonstration that through
working together we can solve problems through harmony rather than violent
struggle.
PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY
The general intention is to make the activities of PHISOLAMA
FOUNDATION known and well thought of by honestly disseminating information
whenever appropriate. PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION will not compromise its values by
subordinating itself to concerns of political correctness or special interest
morals. Rather PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION will endeavor to illustrate its values and
intentions, showing them to be representative of the core values of the majority
of the island residents.
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION will give priority to maintaining
positive relations and open communications with public and private agencies in
any area we are operating in, as well as with the public at large. PHISOLAMA
will specifically set aside personnel and resources for maintaining public
relations in these areas.
¨Cooperation with the appropriate
local governmental agencies in terms of sharing information and coordinating
activities.
¨Press Relations: Keeping the press
and media correctly informed about PHISOLAMAN activities.
¨Producing brochures, briefings,
white papers, books, magazines, videos, and educational materials that will
explain what PHISOLAMA is planning to do.
¨Maintaining information centers
where the general public can be informed about our activities.
¨Creating campaigns eliciting public input and dialogue on our
different focus areas.
¨Maintaining spokespersons to conduct
press conferences, media appearances, public events and so
on.
¨Operating as consultants, as a think tank, and as a knowledge
resource for companies, organizations and governmental agencies.
¨Maintaining relations with companies
that might fell threatened by our support of alternative approaches by
suggesting alternative approaches for them.
Conducting
general publicity campaigns, representing the ideals of PHISOLAMA as by and for
the people, and as being in service to all of humanity.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
PHISOLAMA shall integrate Research and DevelopmentCenters into PHISOLAMA communities,
oriented towards five specific tasks:
Existing Technology Redesign: Redesigning already existing
technology to comply with comprehensive design science, including the
elimination of 'Planned Obsolescence' and Fiscal Expediency Strategy.
Validity Testing: Testing out various proposed and unproved
technologies, including health technologies, to either find them valid or
invalid, and if valid, to develop them for common use,
New Technology Development: Developing new comprehensively
designed technology to allow people to accomplish more work with less energy
and/or greater efficiency,
Community Support Technology
Providing PHISOLAMA seeded communities with products to sell
or lease in already existing markets allowing communities to generate positive
cash flow.
Designing requested technology for use in a Community based
upon each individual community's specific needs.
Reclamation Research: Reclaiming resources now labeled
'waste' and either rendering it inert or reusing it in new processes in an
environmentally safe and sustainable way.
Comprehensively designed technological strategies requires
that all aspects of the user cycle is designed into the use of that technology;
that all processes and products take into account where the raw materials or
recycled manufacturing materials come from, how they are used, how they are
stored and how they are recycled after use, how the products resulting from the
manufacturing process will be used by people and how they will most easily
recycle them at the end of their useful life. In a comprehensively designed
manufacturing process, there is no waste, and minimal environmental impact.
The R&D centers will be organized around specific
technological inspiration enabled by qualified team support. Inasmuch as,
historically, a large preponderance of new breakthrough technologies have come
from individuals operating outside the mainstream of science and technology,
particular emphasis will be placed upon team-supported visions and projects
which lie outside the purview of more traditional R&D centers. Selection
criteria for projects will be based on validity and potentiality of the concept
or technology, regardless of the formal training and/or education of the
principal investigator.
R&D centers should hold as priorities: farming and food
production, housing, transportation (devices and systems), advanced
communication technologies, immediate lifesaving devices for homes and offices
as well as preventive health research, alternative energy, waste recycling, and
Natural system reclamation.
With the exquisitely and comprehensively designed processes
of Nature in mind, R&D centers must continuously research and design to
attempt to integrate Humanity into the environment more harmoniously.
PHISOLAMA seeded R&D centers will only accept contracts
to produce "Livingry" products,
i.e., technologies that amplify humanity's ability to live successfully and
peacefully within the limits imposed by Natural systems. (As compared with
Weaponry: technology that amplifies human ability to kill other humans.)
SPIRITUAL
As PHISOLAMA has been established to support the highest
potentials in all Humans we support all Spiritual Paths that express mutual
respect and empowerment.
PHISOLAMA recognizes that human beings are by their nature
involved in both the mundane world (human) and the world of spirit, religion,
philosophy, morality, and ethics (being).
PHISOLAMA recognizes and honors as "spiritual" the
experience of a kind of deep connection between people, a perceptible sense of
communion that says in wordless heart levels, "I will never seek to intimidate
or harm you in any way, 'as thy heart be, my heart be', and we share all as
One"; a kind of Triple Agreement, and Bond, unspoken but felt by human beings in
true spiritual/community relatedness and kinship.
PHISOLAMA considers spirituality an integral part in
everything we do and is therefore open to the inclusion of all religions, sects,
creeds, and other systems of spiritual and religious practice that reflect
individual freedom. In the creation of a "PHISOLAMA" we recognize the very
underpinnings of society include the divine and a faith in a higher power. Our
policies and practices support those aspects of belief that are in accordance
with our goals of creating a better aina in which all may peacefully abide.
PHISOLAMA respects and celebrates this inherent spiritual
unity in all people and all things, and will thus support programs and events
that focus on spiritual unity, mutual respect and understanding, and/or the
transcendence of separation amongst different belief systems.
PHISOLAMA will sponsor inter-faith programs and celebrations
that will bring together members of different spiritual or religious groups to
explore and celebrate common ground.
PHISOLAMA will sponsor research and other programs that
explore the boundaries and common ground between science and spirituality.
PHISOLAMA will support programs that advocate spiritual and
religious freedom for everyone.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is the "iron horse" the industrialization the
developed nations have ridden, using over one quarter of all energy consumption.
85% of this has been fossil fuel based with its share constantly increasing. The
transportation sector accounts for two-thirds of United
States petroleum use --currently 11 million
barrels of oil per day, or almost two gallons per person per day. US cars and
light trucks alone consume more oil than domestic producers can extract.
Worldwide figures may be somewhat less extravagant, but may be extrapolated from
these data.
It is estimated that the U.S. has been spilling 31,000 gallons
of oil every day for 20 years into our waterways. A well-tuned modern internal
combustion engine vehicle produces an average of 7 pounds of solid pollutants
from the tailpipe per year. Older vehicles easily double this figure. Air travel
also contributes large amounts of pollution and energy use. In effect, the
current transportation paradigm is intrinsically connected to urban sprawl,
overcrowded cities, and other collateral impacts upon quality of life including
global warming, air quality deterioration, and acid rain.
One of the most effective vehicles for change in the area of
transportation will be restructuring of lifestyle in favor of community centered
living, and a greater quality of life given by:
Working
within the local community, which means spending less time per day in commute,
reduced stress, and lower costs of transportation, in addition to the potential
for more fulfilling human relationships.
Growing of wholesome local foodstuffs for local consumption
will yield large net reductions in global energy use as well as better
nutrition, a community heart center, less need for hauling food stuffs and other
necessities (except in emergencies or special cases).
In addition to searching for ways to make transportation
less necessary, PHISOLAMA will be dedicated to research and development of
vehicles and transportation methods that are pollution free and based upon a
sustainable future in terms of manufacturing and fuel use. Vehicles powered by
currently available but unexploited technology will be vigorously
investigated.
¨Lightweight materials based in renewable resources
¨Magnetic
Levitation mass transit
¨Ultralight personal
aircraft
¨Inertial / Gyroscopic Drives
In every possible way, PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION will explore the
following concepts with relation to transportation:
¨Reduced necessity
¨Reduced desirability by increasing attractive
community environs.
¨Greatly reduced fossil fuel use, in direct consumption and in
manufacture.
¨Increased efficiencies
PHISOLAMA FOUNDATION efforts in transportation will depend
in great part upon strong cooperation between our Strategy areas of
Transportation, Energy, Science & Technology, in addition to the essential
underlying structuring of Community & Culture, Agriculture, Ecology, and
Economics Strategies.
